Finals are coming!

Students will spend Friday, Dec. 10th through Wednesday, Dec. 15th finishing up formative assessments and reviewing for their final exam. Their final exam will be taken in two parts; part 1 will be taken Thursday/Friday, Dec. 17th & 17th and part 2 will be taken Monday/Tuesday, Dec. 20th & 21st.

Any missing assignments need to be turned in by Wednesday, Dec. 15th and all make-up tests and Cognitive Tutor units are due by the last day of the semester, Dec. 21.

Let's all put forth our best effort to finish the semester on a positive note.

Mrs. Nickel is back

Mrs. Nickel was gone Monday-Wednesday to Atlanta to the national Learning Forward conference. She was back in school on Thursday and was glad to read that her students did very well while she was gone. Thank-you students!

Review Days

Monday and Tuesday students will review for their Chapter 6 test on Quadrilaterals which they will be taking on Wednesday/Thursday. They will do a review activity in class and will also have time to work on Cognitive Tutor.

Quadrilaterals in the Coordinate Plane

On Thursday/Friday students learned how to determine if 4 points on a graph form a parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square or trapezoid. They were given a set of steps to think through and used the slope formula to determine if sides are parallel, perpendicular or neither.

Homework was a worksheet.

Section 6.6: Trapezoids

On Tuesday/Wednesday students learn about trapezoids. Trapezoids have exactly one pair of parallel sides. We will also discuss medians of trapezoids and isosceles trapezoids. Students will write notes over trapezoids in their Quadrilateral flipbooks. This is the last flap to fill in!

Welcome Back from Break: Partner Quiz today!

Students will come back to break and take a partner quiz to review what was covered before Thanksgiving. It's over angles of polygons, parallelograms, and rectangles (Sections 6.1-6.4). Students may use their textbooks, notes, and flipbooks and will also be working with a partner. Good luck! I know you'll do well.

Section 6.5: Rhombi & Squares

Some class learned about rhombi and squares before Thanksgiving Break, while 4th hour picked it up after break. A rhombus is a parallelogram with all 4 congruent sides, perpendicular diagonals, and diagonals that bisect their vertex angles. A square has all the properties of a parallelogram, rectangle and rhombus.
